GWIHR proudly announces the successful closeout of the AWDF project in Rivers State, Nigeria—a 36-month journey dedicated to combating sexual violence, building police sensitivity, strengthening access to justice for survivors, and amplifying their voices through documentation and advocacy. Through strategic collaboration with state actors and stakeholders, this project achieved breakthroughs that have laid the foundation for a stronger, survivor-centered response system in the state.
The Closeout Meeting
Held on September 26, 2025, the event brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the National Human Rights Commission, NAPTIP, FIDA, Legal Aid Council, Ministry of Women Affairs, Nigeria Police Force, Ministry of Justice, and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
