On behalf of the Board, Management of GWIHR, and the entire sex workers community in Rivers State, we are thrilled to announce a significant achievement made possible by ISDAO’s support under the Love Alliance Program. This support has been instrumental in closing a long-standing service delivery gap in diagnosing and treating sexual and reproductive health issues among sex workers through asymptomatic approaches.
Historically, STI service delivery in Rivers State has been based on symptomatic assumptions, with most interventions focusing on HIV services. This has left a critical gap in addressing the STI issues within the community. Today, we are excited to share that, thanks to the exchange rate gain from the core and project funding we received, we have equipped our laboratory with state-of-the-art equipment and apparatus necessary for comprehensive STI asymptomatic diagnosis and treatment. This advancement ensures that our diverse community can access the care they need.
We are also proud to announce that the Rivers State Ministry of Health has pre-approved our Laboratory Center to serve the community. We are in the final stages of the registration process, which we anticipate completing by April 2023.
This newly equipped laboratory represents a major step forward in providing holistic and inclusive healthcare to sex workers in Rivers State. We invite you to take a closer look at our laboratory and celebrate this milestone with us through the accompanying pictures showcasing our new facilities.
Thank you once again to ISDAO’s support under the Love Alliance Program for making this achievement possible. Together, we are making strides towards better healthcare for all.
