REPORT ON SEX WORKERS ENGAGEMENT WITH INSTITUTION

This report summarizes findings from a national consultation conducted on 20 July 2025 with 55 sex worker leaders across Nigeria, exploring their engagement with the Ministry of Women Affairs and the Nigerian feminist movement. Results show a major inclusion gap: only 6% reported any form of engagement, and even these were occasional and crisis-driven. The remaining 94% have had no engagement, largely due to stigma, lack of recognition, and absence of formal entry points.

Overall, the findings highlight an urgent need for intentional inclusion, stronger partnerships, and structural reforms to ensure sex workers are meaningfully represented in Nigeria’s gender justice spaces.
